
Horváth Dezső
Horváth Dezső graduated with a degree in physics from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest in 1970. He earned his Candidate of Sciences (PhD) degree at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna and later conducted research in experimental particle physics in St. Petersburg, Vancouver, Brookhaven, at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland, and at CERN. He established joint Budapest–Debrecen research groups for CERN experiments.
He is currently Professor Emeritus of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, participates in the work of the Hungarian CMS group at the LHC, and teaches particle physics at the University of Debrecen and Babeș–Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. Since 2006, he has organized training programs for Hungarian physics teachers at CERN. In recognition of his scientific achievements, he was awarded the Széchenyi Prize in 2012.
