Ábel Fülöp was born in Satu Mare and was fascinated by aquatic life from a very young age. He studied biology in Cluj-Napoca and later earned a degree in marine biology in Italy, focusing on seafloor mapping. As a diver, he developed an even deeper connection with the underwater world, which has always captivated him — today, he also teaches diving.

He has participated in projects related to river conservation and the study of invasive fish species. Currently, he is involved in European Union projects researching plastic and microplastic pollution in the freshwater systems of the Danube region, and how this pollution affects the seas connected to these rivers.
